Located in the northwestern corner of Arizona, Mohave County is the fifth-largest county in the United States by area, with a population of 213,267 as of the 2020 census. Kingman serves as the county seat, while Lake Havasu City is the largest city within the county.

Mohave County is part of the Lake Havasu City-Kingman Metropolitan Statistical Area, which also belongs to the Las Vegas-Henderson, Nevada-Arizona Combined Statistical Area.

The county encompasses portions of the Grand Canyon National Park, Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and the entirety of the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument. It also includes the Kaibab, Fort Mojave, and Hualapai Indian Reservations.

Historically, Mohave County was one of the four original counties established by the 1st Arizona Territorial Legislature. Initially defined as west of longitude 11320' and north of the Bill Williams River, its territory was reduced following the creation and subsequent reintegration of Pah-Ute County, as well as the cession of land to Nevada in 1866. The current boundaries of the county were set in 1881. Mohave County is known for housing a significant population of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Colorado City.

Over the years, Mohave County has relocated its county seat five times: from Mohave City (1864-1867) to Hardyville (1867-1873), then to Cerbat (1873-1877), followed by Mineral Park (1877-1887), and finally settling in Kingman (1887-Present).

Geographically, the county spans 13,461 square miles (34,860 km), with 13,311 square miles (34,480 km) of land and 150 square miles (390 km) of water, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. It is Arizona's second-largest county by area and the fifth largest in the contiguous U.S. The county is bisected by the Grand Canyon, creating two distinct sections with no direct land communication; the northern section is less populated and forms part of the Arizona Strip.
