If you have been looking for an affordable property that is near the National Forest, has miles and miles of ATV and groomed Snowmobile Trails, and is graced by a beautiful stream on its border you just located it. The old cabin, approximately 16’ X 40’, that was built adjacent to Newald Road, back in the days of the Civilian Conservation Corps, still provides ample protection from the elements. The steel roof has done a great job of keeping the building dry. The former owners used LP for the gas stove and the gas lights but always had a small generator for a bit more added convenience. There is no well or septic; this is just how old hunting camps have been for many years. Rustic is a great description for the cabin. Heat was provided by an oil space heater but a good woodstove would also serve well. The stream found on the east border of the property empties into the Popple River, just mile northeast. The Popple River is known for great trout fishing, and some of those fish have been known to find their way upstream when the water is a bit higher. The streambed is sandy with many large rocks lying within its banks. Hunting in the entire area is very good and includes deer, bear, turkey and grouse. On Autumn days don’t be surprised that you find woodcock flying over the stream, as they always do, finding just the right cover to spend some time on their way south. To the east of this property is a very large block of National Forest, a great place to spend hiking, hunting or fishing the rivers, streams and lakes. The groomed snowmobile trail is found just miles east of the cabin and it links to many miles of gorgeous forest adventure. You will not see any cabins along Jauquet Road until you get to the cabin, there are a few to the east but not too many; it is just that private here. The road is very well-maintained by the township all year round. The owner of this cabin has to be able to appreciate deafening quiet, dark evening skies with very bright stars, and the knowledge that your little piece of heaven is within a region that has not been settled by very many visitors. As you look through the photos be sure to find the map that shows the immense size of the National Forest, there are no buildings on those lands, and that land will remain as it has for decades; providing a place for wildlife to encounter little human interaction. It does not get much better than this. For the best description of what this property can provide for you be sure to contact the owner, Terry Patrick, a licensed Wisconsin real agent.
