Reverie is one of the historic plantation properties in the Village of La Grange, TN. The original plantation home was built by Major Edmund Winston in or around 1825, making it one of the earliest homes in La Grange. It is believed that the property was also the site of a Chickasaw Indian settlement and trading post which was called Itey Uch La meaning Cluster of Pines by the natives. Today, one can still see the native short-leaf pine trees lining the high bluffs of Reverie. The bluffs of Reverie make for fantastic views as well. At one prominent point called the Crows Nest, you can see for 5-10 miles in several directions. Only a handful of properties in La Grange have these amazing bluff views and they truly make you feel like you are on a mountain top in East Tennessee.

The original Reverie Plantation house burned in the 1987; however, it was replaced by a newly built Antebellum-Style home with modern materials and amenities. This new home is one of the finest in La Grange donning a full chefs kitchen, ground-level master suite, and a 3-car garage. The home would make a great full-time residence or a weekend getaway with plenty of space for a large family.
The list of recreational opportunities at Reverie is more than can be covered in this short brochure. There is fishing in the 2.5 acre lake right behind the home. Deer and turkey are plentiful on the property and additional hunting opportunities can be found on the adjoining 6,700+ acre Wolf River State Natural Area & Wildlife Management Area. For the canoer, Reverie makes a great headquarters for Ghost River Canoe Trips as the La Grange launch point for the 5-hour float to Bateman Road in Moscow is less than 1.5 miles away. Reverie has some excellent trail hiking opportunities as well with an estimated 5+ miles of hiking trails on the property.
If you are looking for a slower pace of life, you will surely enjoy walking down to the Main Street area of La Grange. On Saturday, mornings you can grab a cup of coffee at the General Store and see what the latest happenings are in town. Additionally, the shops on Main Street are planning to open this spring and will offer many new eclectic shopping opportunities.
Whether you are looking for quiet country living in a historic small town or for a getaway from the city for your family, Reverie is a unique property that offers wonderful opportunities for your familys enjoyment.
