The ranch is less than 20 minutes back to Downtown Llano, 45 minutes to Fredericksburg, 1 hr 15 mins to Austin, 35 minutes to Horseshoe Bay, and 1 hr 45 minutes back to San Antonio. Silver Springs Ranch lies within the famed Riley Mountains, once a wild and dangerous area, home to Comanche Indians and other tribes that would use this kind of terrain to launch raids on settlements in the nearby area. The Riley mountains were home to many other Native American tribes and ancient cultures over the course of history. Along the springs & creeks evidence of their long history can be visibly seen in the carvings in the rocks and by artifacts found on the ranch that date back to 10,000+ years+ old. Dozens of undisturbed Native American camps from various time periods located on the property.

WATER: There are 2+ miles of creeks on Silver Springs Ranch. The water on the ranch is abundant with 4,000+ ft of springs that flow even in the most severe of drought conditions. The springs that form Riley Creek are on the ranch. Riley creek flows for 3,000ft, and then flows into Silver Creek at a confluence point. Silver Creek starts just past the Northern Boundary of the ranch, and flows for 1.6 miles through a towering canyon that cuts through the center of the ranch. The ranch sits on top of the Hickory Aquifer.

WILDLIFE: Uniquely diverse wildlife are regularly seen in this remote part of the County range from Whitetail Deer, Rio-Grande Turkey, Elk, Aoudad, Wild Boar, Mountain Lion, Bobcat, Red & Grey Fox, Ring-Tailed Cat, Raccoons, Armadillo, Porcupine, Bald Eagle, Red-Tailed Hawk, Owls, have all been seen on the ranch. The Elk & Aoudad are not native species, and can be hunted year round. It is rare to see these two species, which provides a unique hunting, or sightseeing opportunity.

VEGETATION: The ranch has a diverse range of vegetation in the various elevations. Along the creek bottoms there are many live oaks, red oak, willow, ferns, covered in native grasses like bushy bluestem, with many of the trees covered in wild mustang grape vines. Throughout the rest of the ranch at various elevations you can also find live oak, red oak, post oak, blackjack oak, ashe juniper (cedar), prickly pear cactus, tasajillo, persimmon, bee brush (white brush), and many other grasses and trees native to the Texas Hill Country.
