42 miles west of Kerrville on US HWY 41. The approximate drive time from San Antonio is 1.5 hours and Austin is 2.5 hours.

TOPOGRAPHY, RANGELAND & HABITAT

This beautiful area is often called The Divide, and is characterized by rolling topography covered in live oak trees and other desirable hardwood trees typical of the Texas Hill Country. Native prairie grasses and wildflowers are abundant here, along with pear cactus, mesquites, and some juniper.

WILDLIFE

Historically, the Y.O. Ranch was known for pioneering the effort to conserve exotic animals from around the world in Texas. Today, the owners of the Y.O. Headquarters continue that legacy. The ranch boasts an exceptional infrastructure and is renowned for its impressive offerings in both native and exotic hunting, providing a combination of abundant and high-quality native wildlife and exotics. Moreover, an innovative animal conservation program has been put in place, ensuring the resilience of these herds and positioning the legendary Y.O. Ranch as a leading entity in the preservation of exotic game on a global scale.

Some of the wildlife found on the Y.O. come from four different continents and include Addax, Afghan Urial, Angora, Aoudad, Arabian Oryx, Armenian Mouflon, axis, Barasingha, Bison, Black Hawaiian Sheep, Blackbuck Antelope, Blesbok, Blue Sheep, Bongo, Catalina, Corsican Ram, Dama Gazelle, Dybowski Sika, Eland, Elk, Emu, European Muflon, Fallow Deer, Gemsbok, Grants Gazelle, Himalayan Thar, Hybrid Ibex, Impala, Jacobs 4 Horn, Kudu, Markhor, Merino Sheep, Nile Lechwe, Nilgai, Nubian Ibex, Nyala, Ostrich, Painted Desert Sheep, Pere Davids Deer, Raka Sheep, Red Lechwe, Red Sheep, Red Stag, Rhea, Sable, Sambar, Scimitar Horned Oryx, Scottish Blackface Sheep, Spingbok, Texas Dall, Thompsons Gazelle, Transcaspian Urial, Water Buffalo, Waterbuck, Watusi, White-bearded Wildebeest, Yak, Zebra, and Zedonk. Texas native white-tailed deer and Rio Grande turkey are abundant as well.

The ranch is a wildlife observation, hunting, and conservation paradise. Ranch owners can hunt on their property (an HOA board will set harvest quotas within the Ranches based on the recommendations of a wildlife biologist). Ranch owners and their guests can also hunt on the 10,000-acre conservation land for a 20% discount to the market rate.

IMPROVEMENTS

The Ranches at Y.O. Headquarters are improved with miles of brand-new asphalt roads, street signs, and a game-fenced perimeter that encompasses all 25 ranches. Ranch owners may build on their property, or simply elect to use the stylish renovated cabins and hotel rooms that are available today and located a short 5-minute drive north of the Ranches. WATER

Water well logs in the immediate area suggest that the water table is around 400-450 feet deep. Numerous seasonal creeks traverse the property, and a constant-level fishing lake is one of the club amenities.

AREA HISTORY

In 1880, Texas Ranger Charles Schreiner purchased the Y.O. Ranch with profits he had acquired from driving 300,000 Texas Longhorn cattle up to Dodge City, Kansas where there was more demand in the beef market. Mr. Schreiner built a legacy of banks and ranch land in Texas that survives to this day. The Y.O. Headquarters and the Ranches of Y.O. Headquarters allow todays buyers to be a part of that historic legacy.
