Puzzle Mountain Forest offers an excellent opportunity to acquire a western Maine kingdom lot suitable for a host of uses such as a recreational woodlot, seasonal camp retreat, family estate or long-term investment enhanced by an existing pre-approved 5-lot subdivision. In addition, the forest offers outstanding views of the Mahoosuc Range and Bear River Valley, paved road frontage, internal trails and one of the best locations that Western Maine has to offer. The property is 15 minutes north of the scenic town of Bethel, a four-season resort destination.

The forests topography varies from gently sloping near the main road to mountainous just below the granite shoulder of Puzzle Mountain. There is ample terrain available for locating a seasonal camp or year-round home in the mid-slope sections, very close to the internal road. With a modest amount of tree-clearing, there are outstanding views of the regions river valley and mountain peaks.
The forest supports a mix of northern hardwoods, aspen, and spruce/fir. Diameter size classes are pole to small sawlog, on average. Forest stocking, age class and species mix are the product of aggressive harvesting about 40 years ago, leaving a largely even-aged forest, heavy to aspen and birch but also with good representation of sugar maple, yellow birch and white ash in certain areas. Future thinning can improve the quality and quantity of these more commercial species.
The town of Newry has approved a 5-lot subdivision created by the owner which encompasses all but 128 acres of the tract. Each lot, varying in size from 50-138, has access via an internal woods road and offers a substantial degree of privacy and varying degrees of mountain views. Part of the Grafton Loop Trail, a 39 mile public hiking trail, meanders along the propertys southern boundary and up the slopes of Puzzle Mountain.
