Originally established as a Cattle Ranch in 1884, Piceance Creek Ranch is a very productive cattle operation and excellent hunting ranch. The word Piceance (PEE-ants) derives from the Shoshoni word meaning Tall Grass. The ranch has good improvements consisting of two homes, guest cabin, cow camp/hunting cabin, two shop buildings, barn, tack shed, calving facilities and numerous other outbuildings typical of a working ranch.
Water is supplied to the ranch headquarters by private spring. All main ranch buildings are insulated and heated by private gas wells on the ranch.
The location of the ranch is 30 miles NW of Rifle, Co. and 35 miles SW of Meeker, Co. Located in both Rio Blanco and Garfield counties.
