Numerous fishing lakes and sloughs throughout the Island promise great bass, crappie, bream, and catfish. Chotard is known as one of the premier public fishing lakes in the Delta as well. Over the years, Henderson was also known to hold large numbers of turkeys. I saw a flock last time I was over there. With a few low river springs, the turkey numbers could be back. Duck hunting the sloughs on Henderson has been known to be second to none. There are over 100 stands in place, ranging from lock-ons to ladders, the shareholders can use them. The main lodge is open to the shareholders, and there are sleeping quarters and a full-time staff for cooking meals and cleaning games. There are 31 total shares with 21 owners
