This is a 20 acre unpatented, gold and gem mining placer claim, the Cosumnes River #2, with the beautiful Middle Fork Cosumnes River running through the claim, and is in El Dorado County, California, in the beautiful Sierra Nevada Mountains, and the Eldorado National Forest. The claim is legally registered with the Bureau of Land Management out of Sacramento and the El Dorado County Recorder.
You own the mineral rights, not sharing with others, on the 20 acres, and use your 20 acres, recreationally for camping: tent, camper, or RV, and prospecting: an awesome, beautiful area.
The waterways here were originally mined during the gold rush. The camp was established in 1850 and named for a grizzly bear that surprised a group of miners during an evening meal. The Mt. Pleasant mine was discovered in 1851. There was much activity in both the lode and placer mines from the 1870s through the early 1900's. There was some mining activity again during the 1930s. The Hazel Creek mine was discovered in 1948 and was worked on a fair-sized scale until 1958.
TOWN OF JACKSON
The town is filled with things to do and special events the whole family can enjoy. Nestled in the beautiful Gold Country foothills, Ione residents boast mild climate, serene lakes, beautiful oak trees, rolling hills, strong community spirit, and high quality of life. The historic Main Street stretches along blocks of restaurants, cafes, and boutiquesa great shopping spot for visitors and residents alike.
For the possibility of constructing any building you or others could live in, you need to file a Plan of Operation with the BLM for approval, showing you have developed a full-time operation performing diligent mining, though the BLM is reluctant to approve anything to live in.
You do not need a plan, permission nor a permit to camp and prospect.
You do not need to be a full time prospector to file a Plan for a shed type structure.
Now that we have located the claim, you never have to declare to the BLM any gold or gems you find. You can prospect as little or as much as you choose.
On our visits to the claim, we gathered in and around the river, approx. 1/8 of an ounce of gold, being worth about $225. As the BLM does not specify the amount of gold or gems to be found to locate a claim other than a valuable mineral needs to be discovered, we use this amount for a 20 acre claim as a projection of good gold potential. Someone with more time may find more. Gold prices were over $1900/ounce. Though we could never guarantee what you will find, we did locate this claim in an historically rich area for gold prospecting.
There are no other areas on the Cosumnes River to locate a claim and prospect, being one of the great values of our mining claims here.
We also found some nice crystal specimens up the mountain ridge,
You are allowed to post No Trespassing for Prospecting signs in and around the claim.
A mining claim owner may limit or restrict public recreational use of/or public access across claims or portions of claims that are actively used for prospecting, mining, or processing operations where public recreational use of a claim would endanger or materially interfere with legitimate mining pursuits.

El Dorado County is at the heart of California's Gold Rush country, often called the "Mother Lode." Folsom Lake and rolling foothills are on our western border with Sacramento County. Lake Tahoe and 10,000 foot mountain peaks are on the eastern border that we share with the State of Nevada. Within these borders are great rivers, lakes, gold mines, historic towns, incredible views and everything that nature has to offer.
El Dorado County begins just 30 miles east of Sacramento, California's State Capitol and only 40 miles west of Carson City, Nevada's State Capitol. San Francisco lies 125 miles to the west and Reno is a mere 50 miles to the northeast of the "Golden County."
The center of the Western Slope is Placerville, the seat of government for El Dorado County. Here the hills begin to become mountains. Sitting at an elevation of about 2,000 feet, the old section of town has been restored and offers great shopping. The City of Placerville owns and operates Gold Bug Mine, the only gold mine in California that is open to visitors.
North of Placerville is the town of Coloma where gold was first discovered in California over 150 years ago. The Coloma Gold Discovery Site has been restored to 1840's style and is a living museum. For more information, check out the Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park.
The country roads in southern El Dorado County will lead you through the best Wine Country in the Sierras. The congeniality of the small wineries will make you feel as if you are visiting old friends!
East of Placerville is another historic community of Camino ... home to popular "Apple Hill" where orchards abound ... a place to relax, take in the beauty, especially in the fall when the apples are ripe and autumn shows off its brilliance of colors.
Further east, the Sierras are home to the Christmas tree and logging industries, while providing great places to camp, hike, hunt, fish and ski.
Lake Tahoe, the "mile high" lake is on the eastern border. On mountain peaks reaching over 10,000 feet high, you will find some of the best Alpine style skiing in the United States.
The city of South Lake Tahoe is the center of commerce on the eastern slope of the Sierras and attracts people from all over the world to its wonderful scenery, fishing, sailing, and snow skiing.

A transfer of ownership is a sale of legal, exclusive ownership of a mining claim site. To be a legally recorded claim, gold had to be found on the claim, which was completed by me, as I am the original claim locator.
_____________________________
Your ownership is legally conveyed via a Quit Claim deed, and legally recorded with the BLM and El Dorado County. A Quit Claim deed is the required legal document per the BLM. Each year, on or before September 1st, you need to file a simple form with the Bureau of Land Management, along with $165. By doing this, you keep the claim forever.
You must be a current US citizen with a US address to own a mining claim in the US. I have paid the $165 fee for this year, not due again until September 1. 2023
County taxes of $60 are due again in Spring, 2023.

The Middle Fork Cosumnes River running through the claim is a unique advantage for gold prospecting.
Gold always occurs in gravels in the metallic state and when so found has various physical characteristics. Gold is dense and heavy, it has a characteristic metallic color, and it is soft and easily malleable (it is easily formed by hammering). These are the characteristics used by prospectors to identify gold in the field.
Placer gold occurs on the claim as small grains derived from gossan formed by weathering, and oxidation of the gold, copper and iron rich veins. Gold also occurs as grains flakes and small nuggets derived from the erosion of mineralized fault zones on, and upstream from the claim.

We live in Ohio. Our connection to the West is our daughter lives in Denver, though she is not involved with our claims.
We visited here in September then traveled to California to prospect and locate claims, as we have been doing for a number of years.
And just a note of encouragement for you if purchase:
My wife and I have located, prospected on, and sold mining claims in
California, Colorado, & Arizona, going on now for over 25 years.
You can trust we will process your notarized deeds correctly and quickly.
In that mining claims are processed thru the Bureau of Land Management, a
Federal Govt. agency, not following thru per our legally signed contract, would be a federal crime. I certainly will do what I say, and would never put myself nor my wife
in any legal jeopardy.
Also, we have sold properties on 4 sites online for over 25 years:
Landsalelistings, Landwatch, LandsofAmerica, and LandandFarm.
Our continued good status on these sites is due to our always following thru, as just one time we would not, we would not be allowed to sell on these sites ever again.
COMMENTS FROM SATISFIED CLAIM BUYERS:
"We visited and panned on our claim creek in Colorado this past June and had a wonderful time. Were very pleased with the location and the claim itself."
"We have been to our mining claim in California that we purchased from you last year. The area is stunningly beautiful, and we couldn't be happier with our purchase."
"Living in Arizona, the mining claim we purchased from you has added greatly to our family outings. We are finding gold in the wash on our claim most every visit.
Thank you so much!"
