These properties are Carson Estates, Unit 5, Block 102, Lots D, E, F, and G. They are less than half a mile from the border of thousands of acres of National Forest land.
There is a platted road easement on the west side of Lots F and G, and another road easement on the west side of Lots D and E. These roads were graded in long ago. If the current access is good for you then you can leave it alone, or you can re-grade in any easement at any time.
Unit 5 is at the highest elevation of the entire subdivision and sites on the south slope of Peak Cerro de los Taoses (which translates to "Hill of the Taos" or "Taos Hill"). The northern border of this unit sits only 800 yards from this peak, which is at 8,009 feet. The subdivision is lightly sloping to the south and is bordered on the east by hundreds of acres of BLM land and on the north by thousands of acres of the Carson National Forest.
Almost all of the area south and west of the subdivision is also national forest land. This will help to preserve the area and protect it from overbuilding. This also protects the wildlife which is why you will see deer, elk, pronghorn antelope, and black bear grazing in this area. The region is covered in mountain sagebrush and native grasses with some juniper and pine.
