The town of Piedmont is a small, quiet community situated at the foot of the Black Hills. Rich in history, Piedmont was the destination of hundreds of travelers headed west in the late 1800s toward the mineral laden mines and lumber mills of the Black Hills. Many of whom might have traversed the Elk Creek Valley and camped on or near what has since become the Morrison Ranch.

Rapid City, to the south of the ranch, is the second largest city in South Dakota offering all the conveniences and amenities of a larger city but with the ease and familiarity of a more rural setting. Today Rapid City serves as a regional airport hub as well as a medical, shopping, entertainment, banking and commerce, educational, industrial, tourism and military center.

ACCESS: The ranch is accessed via the Elk Creek Rd., a well maintained County road, which borders the property. There is a short stretch of private road crossing the corner of the neighboring property, for which a perpetual easement has been granted.
