Half a mile inside the gated entry lies the magnificent 2,800 square-foot main home. This house, completed in 2012, was thoughtfully planned and designed with many rustic elements and modern amenities; vintage barnwood from a historic barn was overlaid on hardiplank to create the rustic exterior aesthetic. The first features double level ceilings, a beautiful kitchen just off of the living area, and a propane fireplace. The stairwell leading to the second story was handcrafted onsite with local wild persimmon by Colorado County artist, Mark Potter. The house can accommodate up to 12 guests with four bedrooms four full bathrooms and a bunk cubby. Huge Live Oaks shade the house from the summer heat. A large screened in porch, a patio with a fire pit, as well as an in-ground pool allows for outdoor relaxation and enjoyment.
Next to the house is a 4060-foot metal barn with a carport which was designed in a way to compliment the aesthetic of the house and a 1215-foot wooden gun room.
There are five shallow wells in operation on the Medio Valley Ranch. An electric well at the headquarters is 350 feet deep and produces 50 GPM. Three of the wells are solar wells ranging in depth from 100-280 feet and producing 7-100 GPM, and there is one windmill on the ranch. Three miles of wet-weather Medio Creek traverse the center of the property with many additional miles of tributaries and distributaries flowing in the rainy season. The creek crossings have been inlaid with metal slag product with weight to avoid washouts. There are five ponds, which are well-supplied, range in size from a half-acre to one and a half acres across the property providing water to the abundant wildlife.
Enormous Live Oak trees mixed with a variety of South Texas brush and the rolling terrain provide a unique ecosystem and habitat. Dramatic elevation changes add to the scenic beauty that the ranch offers. The ranch is MLDP qualified and prior to changes in TPWD regulations regarding release of pen raised deer onto low-fenced ranches, the current owner introduced over 40 improved genetics pregnant Whitetail does into the property. Over the years, that influence, and intense management has steadily been noted in the Whitetail bucks. Turkey, dove, quail and many other native species are also plentiful on this wonderful property. Numerous blinds, protein and corn feeders have been strategically placed across the ranch making this ranch a truly turn-key hunting destination.
