This portion of the ranch was issued 9 bull elk muzzleloader authorizations and 12 archery either sex authorizations in 2020. An authorization allows the holder to purchase a private land license. The balance of the ranch is in the secondary management zone where elk hunting license is acquired online or over the counter license sales with bag limits being either sex. There is no minimum or maximum on the elk hunting capability in the secondary management zone. The balance of the big game hunting on the ranch is generally online or over the counter coinciding with prescribed dates. Barbary sheep hunting is year-round.

The owner of the L Bar Ranch has 50% of the mineral rights and 100% of the executive leasing rights.
