A screened porch with a ceiling fan leads into a large, open-plan living and dining area with a 20-foot cathedral ceiling, a stone fireplace with a raised hearth and timber mantel, and handy built-in shelving. At the far end of the room the kitchen features cherry cabinetry, a Whirlpool electric range with a ceramic surface, a Kenmore refrigerator-freezer, a GE Dishwasher, a stainless steel double sink and an eat-at counter with built-in shelves for cookbooks.
Two main level bedrooms have ceiling fans, closets, and windows overlooking the yard, and they share a bath with a shower. One of these rooms opens onto the screened porch.
The main level also has a laundry with a new GE washer and dryer, a coat closet, and a surprisingly roomy storage space tucked under the stairs leading to the second floor.
A spacious loft-style private master suite occupies the second level. The master bath has a shower/tub. A rustic camp motif is used throughout the house, in decorative touches like the brass cabinet handles in this bathroom that are shaped like twigs.
One of the homes most universally appealing aspects is its covered, open-air outdoor living area under the house proper. This space is large enough to accommodate a large gathering, and it has elements that arent often found in outdoor entertaining areas, like a brick fireplace and a flat-screen television, as well as ready access to the river and a bathroom with a sink and a shower.
A long driveway leads from the road through the large 1.5 acre lot, to the riverfront dwelling. Mature, lovingly-tended landscaping is evident everywhere, particularly immediately around the house. Sycamores, maples, evergreens, cherry trees, two Bradford pear trees, a purple plum tree, a crabapple, a Japanese maple, and a willow dot the yard. Flowers grow abundantly around the house, and ferns and hostas line the riverbank, giving the property a serene, garden-like appearance.
A 20-minute drive from historic Lewisburg, with interesting shops, fine dining, street festivals, and a thriving arts scene, Kamp Katie is out in the country, but close to all the amenities of contemporary living. The State Fair of West Virginia, only 20 minutes away, is held every August. The world famous Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs is a 35-minute drive; the resort hosts an annual PGA tournament and serves as the summer training camp for the NFLs New Orleans Saints. Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort, the largest skiing complex in the mid-Atlantic states, is a scenic two-hour drive to the north. The 75-mile long Greenbrier River Trail, which parallels the river, is popular with hikers and bikers.
A quiet spot to retire, an interesting place to raise a family, or just somewhere to get away from all the hustle and bustle, Kamp Katie is full of charm and possibilities.
