Main Headquarters - Main home, built in 1953, was remodeled after the current owners purchased. This home is constructed of native ledgestone of the area and is a true traditional Texas style ranch home. The home features a living room with a large picture window, a perfect setting for morning coffee while enjoying the views. Other features include 3 bedrooms, 2 baths. The master bathroom has been updated with new fixtures and granite countertops. Wooden shutters throughout enhance the charm. The large country kitchen features a work island, top of the line appliances, a laundry area as well as a mud room to drop the boots. Front and back porches offer outdoor enjoyment and great views of the ranch. Ample covered parking is located adjacent to the home. Barton Creek Water Supply furnishes water to the headquarters.
At the headquarters is the main barn, complete with office, tack room, storage and feed room. A set of working pens with chute and loading ramp. A shop and an equipment shed are nearby. There are 2 other sets of pens on the ranch for ease of gathering and operating, the largest set of pens having a set of scales and a loading chute.
A wonderful lodge is nearby. This lodge was built for family fun with a great room for entertaining, a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms and sleeping accommodations. A pool table offers hours of fun for all. An indoor, heated pool and sauna room add to the enjoyment and nearby a large fireplace can be lit for those chilly evenings. The lodge overlooks a stocked lake. A patio under the giant Live Oaks is a great spot for enjoying the scenery and relaxation.
The ranch is fenced and cross-fenced into pastures and/or traps. The main gate is off of CR 318 and the ranch has an additional gate and frontage along CR 134.
The ranch has a paved 3500' airstrip with an open-ended hangar. The airstrip is situated north and south.
The pastures consist of coastal grass, klein grass, and native grasses with 3 hay lots. This first cutting this summer produced approximately 800 round bales.
Numerous stock tanks dot the ranch, two creeks provide seasonal water and 3 water wells are on the ranch, one is solar powered. A large lake locate hillside has a stunning turquoise color and appears to be spring-fed.
JK Ranch had been lightly stocked with 78 head and this ranch can carry 150 to 200 head with ease. The average annual rainfall for Erath County is approximately 33 inches, January temperature average is 31 with an average temperature in July of 91. There are some days of frigid temps and temperatures over 100. The growing season is 232 days.
The JK Ranch is very diversified from productive pastures to rocky and scenic hilltops, Sunday Creek and Turkey Creek run through the ranch, all creeks are seasonal. Nice tree cover that includes Live Oaks and a variety of hardwoods. PLUS the wildlife!
