Jud is located on Farm Road 617 just northeast of the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos River, two miles east of the Stonewall county line, and eight miles southwest of Rochester in northwestern Haskell County. It is a local market for cotton, Peanuts and cattle. Two gins and a population of thirty-one were reported in 1915. In 1940 the town had twenty-five residents and three businesses.
The area was predominantly known as an agricultural area of Haskell County TX and still is predominantly a farming and Ranching community.

There is a healthy stand of Haskell Side oats Grama with scattered Little Bluestem and Silver Bluestem. There is also a good stand of Wilman Love grass, switch grass and sand dropseed.
