The “Gyp Hills” area of Barber County surrounding the Medicine Lodge and Sun City communities has maintained the reputation of being known for world-class Whitetails. A unique mix of minerals in the soils and genetics have long been strong attributes to the quality of antler size in these hills, but the other key factor is just the age of the animals. Bucks in this area have the opportunity to get old just simply roaming the hills, and with light pressured large ranches poke-a-dotted all over the region, the age structure has always seemed to maintain a consistent level. The 578 acres has more than a handful of nooks and crannies with deep cedar-filled ravines, large hilltop tillable fields, and blinds and feeders in place. There are 5 +/- acres of alfalfa planted this past spring and an additional 103 +/- acres currently planted to soybeans for the ultimate early and late season attractant. The property is adjoining the Sun City road, and just to the west of that is Turkey Creek, which has long been a popular area for high-quality deer and turkey hunting every fall. The small town of Sun City sits close by and just to the south.
