The Ellis Sheep Company Ranch is a high mountain grazing, hunting and fishing ranch on top of the Big Horn Mountains consisting of 2,680 deeded acres in Johnson and Washakie County, WY at 7,500 feet. The property has a balanced mix of open meadows and timbered slopes and dramatic drainages with live water offering protection for livestock and wildlife which is seasonally accessible off of Hazelton Road bordering the west of the property.
This is some of the best summer grazing and recreation land that Wyoming has to offer. The property is fenced into two main interior pastures and there are some conveniences fences along the exterior boundary of the BLM lease, which is fenced in common with the deeded acreage. There is a 1,264 +/- acre BLM allotment associated with the property for 238 AUMs, or 60 cattle and 300 sheep, for June through the end of November.

The ranch has healthy populations of antelope, mule deer, elk and several species of grouse. The property is located in elk hunt area 33 and deer hunt area 163 (which is a general area for residents).
There are 32 permitted ponds and springs which provide excellent water sources for livestock and wildlife on the property. Sullivan Creek is a true spring creek and flows through the property in the northern drainage and is fed by several springs which generate volume before the creeks confluence with the Middle Fork of Powder River on the adjacent BLM lease land on the southern drainage of the property.
The Middle Fork of Powder River area is known for its red-wall canyons and excellent fly fishing and hunting. The Middle Fork is one of only 16 blue ribbon trout streams in the State of Wyoming and earned that designation for 5,000 catchable sized trout per mile (See the WGFD link below).
The property is located 33 miles from Kaycee, 42 miles from Ten Sleep, 77 miles from Buffalo, 100 miles from Casper, 112 miles from Sheridan and 145 miles from Cody. Commercial air service is available in both Casper and Sheridan.
