Considering that the entire state of Arizona is home to a total of 35,000 and neighboring Utah's elk herd is estimated elk population is 68,000 elk, the concentration of elk located on the Spring Gulch Ranch and surrounding GMUs is almost unbelievable! The advantage of being located in such a high density of elk is that the CPW is liberal with the allocation of elk tags over the counter tags are available for Archery and 2nd & 3rd Rifle Seasons. Muzzle-loader and 1st Rifle season can be drawn with zero to 2 preference points. A bonus is that GMU 13 is a B-Unit, giving hunters the availability of harvesting an additional cow elk! Owner/owners, guests, or clients will have excellent opportunities harvesting elk or simply viewing elk on Spring Gulch Ranch. Mule deer should not be over shadowed by the immense elk herd located in this area. Mule deer are rebounding and flourishing from previous hard winter kills.
