The Colinas Ranch is an excellent recreational ranch located at the north end of the Gabilan Mountain Range, straddling the ridgeline between Monterey and San Benito Counties and lying just below Fremont Peak. This location is 5 +/- miles south of San Juan Bautista and 50 +/- miles south of San Jose, and only 15 miles inland from the Monterey Bay, which provides a cooler climate than those ranches further inland.
The ranch is a mountainous ranch with various ridges and valleys and elevation from 800 feet above sea level along the canyons to a high of 2,000 feet along the ridges. The vegetation includes a mixture of grassland and brushland with numerous oaks and a few cypress trees. The headwaters of both Towne Creek and Mud Creek run through the canyons of the Colinas, providing several natural springs that provide water to the cabin and livestock water troughs.
