The northwest neighbor and the neighbor across the river in Alabama is the federal government lands surrounding the George W. Andrews Dam and Locke that is about 4800 feet north of the subject property. The dam is not for power production, but is for river navigation. The dam forms George W. Andrews Lake, very riverine in nature and known for excellent fishing. Downstream about 1.8 miles on the Alabama side is Alabama Powers Farley Power plant, in operation since 1977. Historical imagery on Google Earth shows water in the natural pond in every available year. There is a built up road across the pond serving as both road and dam, which helps provide some open deeper water.
