The Oxnard Harbor District was formed on April 29, 1937, after citizens of Oxnard, Hueneme, and Ventura County decided to build the harbor themselves.In 1960, the district purchased Dock #1 and 6 acres of land, and added 35 acres from Port Hueneme.Wharf 1 was reconstructed to be 1,800 feet long and able to accommodate three ships.
