HISTORY IN THE AREA:
History runs deep in the area as it has been traversed by well Documented Explores like Captain William Clark and Manuel Lisa and their men that joined them on their explorations and settlement trips to the Uncharted New West, of the United States.
Pompeys Pillar National Monument, just 15-miles upstream, bears the only remaining physical evidence of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. On the face of the 150-foot butte, Captain William Clark carved his name and the date July 25, 1806 during his return to the United States through the beautiful Yellowstone Valley. Clark makes note in his Journal on July 26th, 1806 about (2) large Brooks on the lard (left) side, one of which is believed to be Hibbard Creek that lies just across the River from the property. Clark continues to make notes about shooting a Buck from the Canoe and killing another Buck on a Small Island. It is quite possible that Clark actually harvested one or both deer on these grounds to provide fresh meat for his crew. Please see the following transcripts of the Lewis & Clark Journals provided by the University of Nebraska at the following link www .lewisandclarkjournals. unl. edu/item/lc. jrn.1806-07-26#lc. jrn.1806-07-26. 03

I walked up the big horn a mile and crossed over to the lower Side, and formed a Camp on a high point. [18] I with one of my men Labeech walked up the N E Side of Big horn river 7 miles to the enterance of a Creek which falls in on the N E. Side and is 28 yds wide
The University of Nebraskas Interpretation of the included transcript is as follows for note (15.) :
15. There are several small streams on the starboard (south) side of the Yellowstone in this area, some now having names, some not. The first, unnamed and a little beyond "Halls River" on the opposite side on Atlas maps 110 and 117, may be present Kaiser Creek in Yellowstone County. The second, also unnamed and a little upstream from "Island Brook" on the Atlas maps, is perhaps Sand Creek in Yellowstone County above Buffalo Creek. The first large creek, which does not appear on the Atlas maps, may be Hibbard Creek, in Yellowstone County. The second, Clark's "Island Brook," would be Buffalo Creek in Yellowstone County.
Fort Raymond
11 Miles downstream at the Confluence of the Yellowstone and Bighorn Rivers, is the site where Manuel Lisa built Fort Raymond (1807-1813) the first Fur Trading Post in the Western area later to be known as Montana.

LEASE OPPORTUNITY: The Sellers son who has been successfully farming the property, also Winning the COORS Barley Grower of the Year Award in 2020, would be very interested in continuing to Lease the Farm Ground and discussing the goals of the New Owners for the Property. ~ Notable Recreation Opportunities within the General Area ~
BIGHORN RIVER: Fly fishing the Bighorn River will provide an experience that will leave even the most elite fishermen in a state of exciting bewilderment. It offers one of the largest concentrations of Wild Brown and Rainbow trout in the west. Team up with one of the many Outfitters in the area or Explore the River on your own as you are almost guaranteed a bounty of fly-fishing photo ops and history suggests that you could bring in a number of trout between 18 - 22+ inches.
Entering Montana more than 150 miles downstream from its origin in Wyoming, the Bighorn River flows into Bighorn Lake, formed by the Yellowtail Dam, then winds North and joins the Yellowstone River, just 12 miles East of the Farm. Importantly, there is an Afterbay which preserves a constant flow for the Bighorn River. The combination of cold, fast-flowing water and abundant nutrients creates an ideal trout and wildlife habitat. Being a tailwater of Bighorn Lake (Yellowtail Dam), the Bighorn River is fishable year-round as it never freezes!
"The Horn," as anglers call it, is nationally recognized as one of the premier Trout Streams in the United States, but also holds a name for being an incredible Waterfowl Hot Spot. Combine these two pastimes at once and you will be certain to experience a day in the outdoors that is Truly Unique.
CAST & BLAST - A Unique and Unparalleled Experience
With the concentration on the Waterfowl that is abundant on the Bighorn River, the typical Cast and Blast starts by getting out on the river and either Jump Shooting Ducks and Geese or Picking a quiet channel and setting up with Decoys, when the Birds are really moving. The Bighorn River offers the opportunity for Several Species of Waterfowl headed from Canada on their Southern Migration. When the Sun jumps into the Sky, the focus shifts from Shotgun to Fly Rod as the Autumn Brown Trout are starting to stage up for the Fall spawn and are ready to put up a Battle throughout the day. As the Sun starts to wane, the Ducks start to return back to the River to Roost and is time to spend the rest of the evening looking down the Rib of your Favorite Shotgun.
