Excellent hunting for whitetail deer, turkey, small game and even bears have been seen on this property.

Extensive trail system for the side by side, ATV’s, hiking, mountain biking, snowmobiling and snowshoeing.

The owners love to explore, hike, cut fire wood, make natural crafts, harvest medicinal plants, ride ATV’s, hunt, and enjoy sugaring in the late winter/early spring. According to a local expert, our trees produce delicious maple syrup and we agree!

Also hunting for fossils such as Petoskeys, Brachiopods, and Horn Corals is enjoyed by the rockhound or stone collector in the family.

Outstanding opportunities close by for boating and fishing are Long Lake, Grand Lake and Lake Huron. Grand Lake is a 5,660 acre lake with 19 islands and is the largest lake in Presque Isle County.

The Thunder Bay River is very desirable for kayaking, canoeing and fishing.

The Black Mountain Recreation Area, located in northern Presque Isle County, offers a vast network of marked trails for hiking, ATV excursions, horseback riding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. With over 30 miles available for hiking, 60 miles for off road vehicles, and 80 groomed miles for snowmobiling, the area is ideal for any type of outdoor adventure at any skill level. Parking and trail access at Black Mountain are conveniently located at a number of locations, including the Black Lake State Forest Campground and the Twin Lakes State Forest Campground.

Snowmobile Trails are the Millersburg Trail and Silver Creek Trail. The Presque Isle Sno-Trails Snowmobile Club grooms 132 miles of trails.

Alpena Sportsman Club is a multi use facility, including an indoor shooting range, 100 yard outdoor range, 600 yard outdoor range, sporting clay course, outdoor archery range and the pavilion overlooking Zim Lake by the main building that includes a full kitchen.

The County is home to three lighthouses and three marinas located on Lake Huron. The 40 Mile Pointe Lighthouse is at the new county park.

The four state parks, Hoeft State Park, Onaway State Park, Rockport State Park and the Thompson Harbor State Park which encompasses over 5000 acres of undeveloped beach dunes, upland and marshland to explore.

Ocqueoc Falls is the lower Peninsula’s largest waterfall and is also the nation’s first universally accessible waterfall. Waw-waugh-waugh-que-noc (meaning sacred waters) was the name given by Native Americans to this beautiful river that is now called Ocqueoc. This hidden gem contains the largest falls in the Lower Peninsula, with four small rapids and a pool for splashing making this a fun destination for everyone to experience.

This is truly a Pure Michigan recreation area.
