Nothing quite beats the quality of Amish craftsmanship. The Amish are generally well known for their strong work ethic, impressive crafting skills, and their ability to create attractive, long lasting woodwork. This beautiful log home was constructed in 2005 by former local Amish carpenter, Noah Bortrenger. Noah has since left the region but he and the current owners worked together to realize the homeowners' custom design. It is comprised of hundreds of locally harvested, kiln-dried, 8-inch "D" shaped pine logs. The corners are joined together in the traditional notch and pass method and the porches are supported by 48-inch frost piers to protect against frost heaving. The 10-foot by 16-foot storage shed behind the house was also constructed with traditional Amish craftsmanship.
