The Maytag Ranch is a wild and beautiful 960 acre national forest inholding just 12 mostly paved miles west of the stoplight in downtown Driggs. The property consists of a series of small spring creek drainages flowing out of a picturesque high mountain ridge that forms the top of the Big Hole Mountains just above the property. The ranch is moderately to heavily treed with conifers and aspens interspersed with open parks. Views of the dramatic high peaks of the Grand Tetons from any open location on the property are quite inspiring, as are the views of Packsaddle Basin from the south end of the property. An older 8,478 square foot residence is situated near the south boundary of the property, and Mrs. Maytag maintained year-around access to the house up until she moved to a retirement home some years ago. The house would be considered in marginal condition with a rather unusual floor plan. The site however is quite dramatic. As stated above, the Maytag Ranch is essentially an almost completely untouched wilderness property that has the unusual benefit of being only a short, mostly paved drive from one of eastern Idahos most attractive small resort towns at the base of the Grand Tetons.
