Our home fronts the Whitetop Mountain South face where morning and sunset expressions are always different. From the changing seasons to the Carolina blue skies overhead, there is always a photo opportunity present for the observer.
Our large three bedroom, two and one half bath home has the warmth of wood from the ceilings and floors...the rooms are spacious and closet space quite adequate for most families. The great room is enhanced by the fourteen foot ceilings providing light and a sense of spaciousness.
The kitchen has been recently updated featuring a dual gas/electric 40 inch range, a very large over range microwave, and a Bosch dishwasher. There is ample counter space with two separate sinks, and a prep area with bar. There is a large dining area and the entire great room, kitchen and dining room are all open providing a wonderful entertaining environment.
There are two gas log fireplaces, one the the great room, the other in the master suite. All in all Camp Whitetop is a warm inviting home situated on 72.3 acres of dense forest land. The landscaping comes alive in the spring and summer with the blooming rhododendrons and mountain Laurel along with brilliant day lilies lining the grass edge. Red oaks, maple, beech and fir trees along with dogwood and hummocks fill the forest with shade and color until the red and orange of fall color the surroundings. This is truly a remarkable place to see the full change of seasons as everyone looks forward to the white of winter.
Camp Whitetop has an attached plus sized two car garage for convenient vehicle storage and protection. It also includes a 25 Ft x 32 Ft two story detached RV garage with two workshop areas along with amazing storage overhead. I had always contemplated converting this garage into a two bedroom, two bath guest house, but time has slipped away for us!
We have numerous hiking/4wheeling trails throughout the property, a brisk running Buckeye Branch Creek and a large stocked pond. 15 +/- acres are planted with towering white pines which one day may be ready for cutting.
We have throughly enjoyed our twelve years here at Camp Whitetop, especially the summers when we bring our ten grand children up for the famous Camp Whitetop Experience...a one week no parents allowed adventure for our treasured family. From evenings at the fire pit watching fire flies and evening stars to the 4Wheeling thru the woods in search of the delicious
Huckleberries that grow wild in the forest, memories of a lifetime have been made at Camp Whitetop.
We only hope that we can pass forward the peace and love this special place on earth has brought to this family.
