Owned and operated by the same family for the past 20 years, this exquisite ranch is in pristine condition. Located in a very desirable, and easily accessed, area of the Hill Country, this is a great recreational getaway that offers pure relaxation and privacy. The town of Fredericksburg is renown for its European ambiance with a myriad of charming restaurants, boutique shops, museums, antiques, as well as music and art festivals throughout the year. This area of the Pedernales River Valley is also home to notable, award-winning Texas Wineries that provide additional Old World atmosphere. The current owners purchased this land in 1991 from the estate of direct descendants of the original homestead family. According to records, this is the largest portion of the original homestead of settlers from Germany, with the main house sometimes referred to as the Amandus Vogel house. There is also an original hand-dug and limestone-lined well southwest of the home and the original cistern is still functional adjacent to the house.
Improvements: A scenic array of exquisite improvements begins with the original 1867 rock homestead and its 1918 frame addition, all completely restored and tastefully modernized in 1993. With great care and professional expertise, all structural elements and the long-leaf pine floors of the original home and associate buildings were preserved. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets were constructed from long-leaf pine boards of the original home. Other original structures renovated in 1993 include an 1867 rock Root House, restored and converted to a guest house with 2 bedrooms and 1 full bath, and a rock Pump House converted for a gun room, utility and work area. An original Grain Barn is virtually untouched since its construction plus there are other small outbuildings. A 19th Century ‘Dog Trot” Log Cabin was reconstructed on the ranch in 2000 as a Guest House, providing two separate guest suites with living rooms and wood burning fireplaces, bedrooms and full baths. Both the original Rock House and the Dog Trot Log Cabin are equipped with full central heating and air conditioning, water softeners and monitored security systems. Accenting the immediate grounds is professional landscaping by Ken Schindler, including perennial plantings that bloom each year. There are a total of 3 fireplaces. The 7 bedroom, 5 Bath accommodations feature:
