The property has several beautiful building sites for your home or cabin.  You could build on the north shore facing the Bay, or on the western shore overlooking Hay Lake. The property has about 1,150 feet of lake shore - with mostly high ground. Hay Lake is a stunning 140-acre lake that has the feel of "Up North". The lake has a maximum depth of 14 feet, which limits or eliminates winter kill.  The fishing is good on Hay Lake. You can catch good sized black crappies, as well as northern pike and walleyes. Walleye Fry have been stocked in Hay Lake every other year since 2011. Over 200,000 fry have been stocked. An alternative would be Chub Lake, which is just to the north. Chub Lake is a 313-acre lake that also has good sized walleyes and northerns. A total of almost 40,000 walleye fingerlings have been stocked in Chub Lake since 2006, and the stocking takes place every other year. There was quite a bit of deer sign on the property, and although you could hunt here, there are numerous options close by. The Blackhoof River Wildlife Management Area is just 5 miles south. The Blackhoof River WMA is a 4,026-acre sanctuary, and it would be a great place to hunt whitetails and ruffed grouse. The Blackhoof River WMA is adjacent to the County Memorial Forest, which also allows hunting. You can visit the many magnificent surrounding sights including Jay Cooke State Park, which is one of the biggest attractions in the area. Jay Cooke State Park is about 7 miles NE of the property. The park was developed to protect a portion of the lower St Louis River Basin. There are several activities to participate in inside the Park. One of the State’s major trail systems, the Willard Munger Trail runs through the Park. Other Park activities include camping, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing, and kayaking. Park rangers offer over 400 naturalist outreach events each year; including nature walks, evening campfire talks, snowshoe-building lessons, and geocaching. The property is located in the heart of some fantastic Whitetail hunting. The area also provides hunting for Grouse, Turkeys, and Black Bear. There are also duck hunting opportunities on Hay Lake, as well as on the numerous lakes, rivers, and ponds in the area.
