About 40 acres of Old Growth forest located at the entrance of the property overlooking the New River has not been harvested in over 100 years. This is a very special part of the property as the large, mature trees create a unique habitat which appeals to animals and humans alike.
Each year, Bald eagles nest on Brooks Island surrounded by the New River. The island is easily seen from the main house and the eagles are often sighted soaring across the property. The abundance of wildlife can be fully appreciated by spending a few hours hiking, looking and listening for all the Walla Halla forest has to offer.
Directions
From the SandstoneHinton Exit #139 on I64, take Route 20 South about 11 miles through Hinton until you cross the bridge over the New River. Immediately take a right on the Sandstone Falls / River Road and follow along the river 5.9 miles. There is a large wooden Walla Halla sign overtop the gravel driveway on the left with a locked gate the road. This is the entrance of the private lane leading through the property.
