This Log Cabin on 34 acres has it all! Forest, hunting, pond, stream and privacy.
This cabin in the forest is begging for a new owner to finish and cherish. Ready to use as a hunting cabin or finish into a year-round home. This one and 3/4 story log cabin measures 36 x 22 and has a below frost line foundation and sits square and dry with a good roof. Rooms are framed, partially wired, and quality thermal pane windows are installed. The electric runs to a pole along side the cabin but not inside yet. The septic field has been built but no well or water supply yet. There is a poured slab inside on which a fireplace could be built or a wood burning furnace placed.
The cabin is hidden but easily accessed year-round lying less than 200 yards off the paved road. The dirt driveway entrance is level and solid and the Village of Whitney Point and Interstate 81 are only 6 miles away. I ...
The cabin is hidden but easily accessed year-round lying less than 200 yards off the paved road. The dirt driveway entrance is level and solid and the Village of Whitney Point and Interstate 81 are only 6 miles away. I drove by this cabin for years and had no idea it was there. Greek Peak and Song Mountain Ski Resorts are both a short drive away. If you enjoy fishing and kayaking, the Otselic River and Whitney Point Reservoir are both accessed a mile away. But you need not go any farther than your front porch rocker to enjoy the sights and sounds of mother nature!
With some work you can clear your own cross country ski trails, hiking trails, and ATV trails on the old existing logging roads that run along the wooded hillside. One trail already leads to a beautiful hidden gem of a spring-fed pond. I was there after a hot dry summer spell and the water was cool and clear. Deer feed and bed down in the thick shaded hillside cover as well as in the wetlands at the foot of the slopes or along the small stream that runs by the cabin. The hunting around here is great. There are still plenty of nearby farm fields of corn, soybeans, clover etc. that the deer and turkeys love to feed on.
The woods and openings in them have a wide variety of plant life. You will see a variety of ferns, mushrooms, wild raspberries, and a good mix of young and mature timber including maple, ash, cherry, eastern white pine, hemlocks, butternut, oak and more. The wetland area will have a completely different mix of plant and animal life. There is also a few acres of level brush land closer to the road that was once a field and with some care could be reclaimed and used as a food plot, garden, or play field.
If you have dreamed about owning a cabin or home with land in this type of natural setting come and check it out!
