This home, orignially known as Five Forks, was built in 1802 on the site of a colonial Indian fort by John D. Patteson. Patteson then willed the home to his son William Everett in 1852. After serving in the Civil War, Willam Everett served as postmaster. The post office was located in a small building just to the left of the front yard. The post office and the home were renamed Rosebower due to the special roses that covered both buildings, which supposedly only grew here.
