Water: There are 30 stock tanks and lakes throughout the ranch, with a 14 acre and 32 acre lake. Most of the tanks are stocked with Florida Bass with the 32 acre lake being one of the best private fisheries in the state. This lake has produced a number of bass over 10 pounds, and being a fairly new lake, the fishery has not yet reached its full potential.
Wildlife: The entire high fenced area currently has whitetail deer previously on the property and also some genetically improved deer from the breeding facility. The owner released 50 bred does and over 30 bucks in the 1,500 acre pasture during the spring of 2006. The balance of the ranch is divided into 6 different herd fence pastures. The owner has released over 150 bucks in the last 2 years in these pastures. Some bucks now will score over 200 B&C. The largest buck taken in the last 2 years scored 195 B&C. The ranch is currently under the Texas Parks and Wildlife MLD program as a Level III ranch.
Wild turkeys are abundant on the ranch with birds roosting in live oaks near the house part of the year. Bobwhite quail, dove, and waterfowl are seen regularly on the property. The 1500 acre pasture also has elk and axis deer.
Improvements: The Diamond D Whitetail Ranch has 3 main homes. The first is a 1960’s house with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, den, carport, patio, and laundry room. This home is located in the 1500 acre pasture. The second home was built in 1999 with 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, kitchen, and den. This currently is the Ranch Manager’s house. The main, owner's house, was built in 2001 and is an Austin Stone 4 bedroom, 2 bath, with den, media room, and kitchen. It has a patio and hot tub overlooking one of the most beautiful views in Texas. The barn is an 80’ x 80’ prefabricated building with 40’ x 80’ being a covered shed for tractors, equipment, or horse stalls with two inside rooms and a cleaning area (sink/stove). Two large bay doors are at either end of the enclosed portion of the building for drive thru use. There is also a set of working pens and corrals near the barn and a small bunk house for a ranch hand.
A good road system is intact to the house and throughout the property. With the abundance of rock in the upland areas and climate being arid, the property is accessible all year long. The .7 mile road to the top of the mountain and main house is concrete, with an irrigation system and landscape lighting.
The ranch has 7.5 miles of 2” water lines encompassing the property. It is served by both North Runnels County Water District and Coleman County Water District. In addition, the Lake Ivie to Abilene 30” waterline travels along the county road inside of the property. There are three 2” taps and access to the water for livestock watering.
Breeding Facility: The breeding facility located on the Diamond D Whitetail Ranch is one of the largest in the state of Texas. There are 87 breeding pens encompassing nearly 150 acres, with each having fresh water piped into them. Each of these pens has lanes leading to the state of the art working facility.
Minerals: The owner has leasing rights to 2 oil wells. Any mineral rights that the owner currently has will go with the property. Other than the 2 wells owned by the current owner, there is no other production on the ranch. All wind rights will also convey with the property.
