~MEXICO RANCH~
This 100 year old family ranch sits in the foothills of the Serranias del Burro, an area well known for its outstanding white tail deer. The ranch borders approximately two miles of the Rio de San Rodrigo on the most southern tip, creating a year round paradise for both man and wildlife. The San Isidro Ranch is located in the northeastern part of the state approximately 50 miles northwest of Piedras Negras/ Eagle Pass and 60 miles southwest of Ciudad Acuna/ Del Rio in the municipality of Jimenez. It is approximately 2 miles off of Mexican Hwy 29 (paved hwy) to the west. Travel time to the ranch is approx. 45 minutes either from Ciudad Acuna or Piedras Negras. The Mexican Highway conditions are good, which makes for easy fast travel.

The ranch has excellent water availability with the San Rodrigo River being on the southern border of the ranch. It supplies a constant healthy flow of water by way of water line that feeds many of the pilas on the ranch. The San Rodrigo River is a tributary to the Rio Grande River. It’s conception begins in the Serranias del Burro and runs clear and clean to a lake that sits north of the ranch; then on to the Rio Grande River. Well water is also available on the ranch.
There is no housing; only a small casita, a set of old working pens, and a covered shed. There is no electricity on the ranch. Electric power lines are seen approximately 1 Km away. Bringing in power has been evaluated, and is possible.
The San Isidro is truly a free ranging wildlife ranch. With it’s low fencing that is shared with ranches like El Oregano and El Caballo and the lack of hunting pressure, it makes for a sportsman’s paradise. One of its key features is that it has never been commercially hunted and has had very little hunting pressure from the family. The buck-doe ratio remains at one buck to every 2.3 does. The Blue Quail hunting is also fantastic, and past surveys show healthy populations. Turkey can be found in the lush Live Oaks that fill the creek bottoms crisscrossing the eastern half of the ranch. Other game animals found are bob white quail, dove, and javalina. Native varmints such as coyotes and bobcats are also often seen. Mountain Lions have been spotted on occasion.
