The marsh has a system in place that controls seasonal water levels. The Fawn River is considered a high-quality recreational river, with clear waters and home to many bluegill and bass. There are a few launch sites along the 55 mile stretch where fishing and paddling opportunities are available. The Fawn River starts where the headwaters rise in a series of lakes and marshes in Steuben County Indiana and flows west-northwest into Michigan then into the St. Joseph River just a few miles west from the Fawn River Duck Club property. The property is 4 miles west of Constantine, 8 miles southeast of Three Rivers, 4 miles northeast of White Pigeon, 5.5 miles north of I-90 and 115 miles east of Chicago.
