Location: Approximately 25 miles southwest of Morton, TX.
Comments: These 4 sections in southwestern Cochran County lie in the center of an area that is being cleared and developed into irrigated farms primarily for peanut and cotton production.
Water District maps indicate that these sections likely have sufficient water for similar development. A portion of this land was farmed under sprinkler irrigation prior to being enrolled in the CRP program 17 years ago.
There are 625.2 acres enrolled in CRP until 2007 at $30.00 per acre plus 143.4 acres of farmland fully allotted to peanuts with a yield of 2901 lbs. About 97.9 acres of the farmland is planted in Bermuda grass with the remaining 45.5 acres being used for dryland wheat. The balance of the land is in native pasture with a considerable amount of shinoak.

Hunting in this area is good and includes deer, quail, and prairie chickens. A large buck that scored over 190 Boone & Crockett points was taken from this land last year.
There are 5 irrigation wells with pumps and motors and a Gifford-Hill sprinkler that have not been used in 17 years. There is also an older trailer house and a small barn plus a domestic well. In addition, there is a large set of cattle pens with pipe fencing.
