This 140 acre income producing recreational tract lies in northern Mercer County just 20 minutes from the Iowa border. Two Redneck blinds and a furnished camper with water and electric hook-ups will go along with the sale.
The farm has 52 FSA tillable acres of which 17 were strategically chosen to be left out of production to maintain the wooly field edges. There are established, secluded perennial food plots on the property next to thick bedding areas to stage deer before they head out to the crop fields to feed. The backside of the farm has been left as a sanctuary that has grown in up in old field habitat consisting of cedars and other low-brush security cover which doesnt get disturbed.

Perhaps the most intriguing part of the habitat development on this farm is the vast timber stand improvement. Hinge-cut trails wind around the edges of the timber and create an impenetrable funnel that force deer to use them. This creates some extremely busy intersections prime for stand locations. We found hundreds of rubs and scrapes, flushed a covey of quail and saw a lot of turkey sign in these areas, ensuring the conceptual design of the work is paying off. Some of the thickest bedding areas have been enhanced by thinning the timber to open up even more of the canopy to allow more sunlight in and encourage the growth of even thicker security cover.
This property is one-of-a-kind in its habitat development and wont last long. For more information contact Jody Graff at 660-734-0057 or Jim Reber at 515-238-9925.
