Michael Kornley, a then 25 year-old aerospace engineer, designed this 1955 mid-century modern house for himself and his family. He was influenced by the architectural movement of the time — using new and innovative materials and technologies to illustrate the idea that form should follow function and an embrace of minimalism. The design of the house, with the angled garage, and a sweeping overhang in front, is reminiscent of an airplane wing.
