The historic log cabin, dated as far back as 1770 and considered to be the oldest continually lived-in log cabin in the state of Kentucky, captures history and tells the story of this preserved land. The grandparents of Harry Truman called this cabin "home", and local legend states that the family of Mark Twain resided in this cabin prior to his birth. A barn, smoke house and wood shed sit behind this log cabin remind us of days gone by.
Rolling hills, steep cliffs and level valleys offer an array of scenic opportunities and a variety of outdoor activities and exploring. Behind the log cabin begins a hike up to the spectacular Chimney Rock. Create your customized retreat that will create legendary memories for generations to follow...
Additional Information
The dream of Hoover Hollow's owner was to create a remote oasis in the foothills of the Appalachians - on the Cumberland Plateau, providing seclusion for a sanctuary retreat while preserving some of America's most beautiful countryside. He spent years acquiring land, little by little, to establish this 1,000 acre treasure. At one point in time, the property was near 3,000 acres prior to donating all but 1,000 acres to surrounding wilderness - thus further ensuring the conservation of the land.
Tally has cared for the property as a national park with few motorized vehicles and has not raised any animals, so as to preserve its natural state. One can feel the tension slide away as you approach the property, traveling on the bumpy, dirt roads through the forest. The understated entry - with a small electric gate - masks the incredible detail and care given to the infrastructure and quality of development.
