Completed in 1824 by noted Lexington builder-architects John Jordan and Samuel Darst (as Darst's residence), Beaumont sits aligned with three other classically inspired homes on Lee Avenue. Described in The Architecture of Historic Lexington as "The most Classical of the Lee Avenue Group", the home is distinguished by its "Templelike pediment over a columned and barrel vaulted Roman order porch". Paired columns, two stories in height, form the Classical entranceway to Beaumont. The original floor plan including the main entrance hall and eight rooms, has been meticulously restored and updated during the past ten years by its present owners. Beaumont has been on the Virginia Historic Garden Tour numerous times
