This historic two-story brick building with full basement was built during the Depression in 1932 and stands on the corner of Third and Main Streets in the heart of the city of Lampasas. The approximately 10,000 square foot building sits on three city lots that originally held the Lampasas Opera House, a two-story cut stone building. At that time, the opera house, owned by W.H. Barnes, was declared to be the finest building in the city. Sadly, the opera house was totally destroyed by fire in 1887. Then in 1932, the present day building was built to be used as the Lampasas City Hall, but with a multipurpose use in mind.
