On the National Register of Historic Districts is the Yankee Village of Rural just south of Waupaca near the famous Chain O'Lakes. The ever popular Crystal River, flowing from the chain of 22 spring-fed lakes, decides to meander and turn, flowing in zigs and zags through this quaint little historic village. The village is 4 crossing streets with an equal number of bridges over the Crystal River. On Main Street in Rural is an old town hall, the old historic school building, a stellar Greek Revival home, and the general store.
