This unique concept was born from the original ranch owner and executives of Time Magazine, who saw an opportunity to create a private retreat for themselves and their families. In addition to the two homes, owners enjoy a common area that features 14.4 acres of irrigated land that has been used for community farming and livestock. Currently, owners graze their horses in the large, lush pasture. There is a residence in the common area that owners can use to entertain guests including overnight stays. The 14.4 acres comes with full irrigation water rights of which each owner has shares.

Ownership of these two parcels includes 18 shares of the ranch. There are 11 other shareholders who hold 15 shares each. The property holding the smaller home in the canyon conveys with 15 shares while the property holding the larger home on the mesa conveys with 3 shares. The larger home is 2,922 +/- sq. ft. (3,851+/- sq. ft. including porches) with 3 bedrooms, a large studio space and 2 bathrooms. The smaller home is 924 sq. ft. With two bedrooms and 1 bathroom.

Recreation abounds on the ranch with hiking, biking and horseback trails throughout the land. The year-round Palomas creek overs a riparian area lush with trees and plant life. Birds and wildlife are abundant and create an opportunity to live in harmony with nature and beauty. New Mexicos largest reservoir, Elephant Butte Lake is 20 minutes from the ranch and can be seen from high points of the ranch, along with the Rio Grande River as it flows through the Middle Rio Grande Valley. The neighboring town of Truth or Consequences offers restaurants and shopping as well as a multitude of hot springs resorts for relaxation and enjoyment. Las Cruces is the major metro area and is approx. 1 hour from the ranch.

The ranch, known as the A-Spear Ranch, is comprised of 3,120 private deeded acres, 3,814 State of New Mexico Trust Lands and 14,439 acres of Bureau of Land Management pasture. Approx. 1,440 acres of the private land is gated and located at the lush canyon bottom and is where the shareholders residences are located, with the exception being the 10 acre Hondo tract and home. That home is separated from the others and outside of the canyon area on a separate deeded parcel that cant be further developed.
